The Tennis Professionals Association (Tennis Canada Coaches Association) announced the TPA Excellence awards and scholarships recipients for 2022 and 2023 on July 5th. Saskatchewan’s Denise Fernandez and Marek Nehasil both received Awards for their coaching excellence in 2022.
2022 Coaching Excellence Award: Marek Nehasil
Marek is a certified NCCP Coach 3 who is currently a High Performance Training Coach and Competition Coordinator for Tennis Saskatchewan (and also works at the Lakeshore Tennis Club in Regina). Marek has 15 years of coaching experience and has enjoyed a lot of success with his players in 2022, guiding them to both national and international titles.
2023 Rene Simpson-Collins Excellence in Female Coaching Scholarship: Denise Fernandez
Denise is a certified NCCP Coach 3 who is currently the Director of High Performance Tennis at Tennis Saskatchewan (and also works at the Lakeshore Tennis Club in Regina). Denise has coached and mentored nationally and internationally ranked players as well as many players that have graduated on to NCAA division 1 and 2 universities. In addition, Denise has been instrumental in the development pathways of players in Saskatchewan.
