Tennis Canada, in collaboration with the Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations, gears up celebrate the inaugural Tennis Month in Canada.

The month-long celebration of tennis aims to inspire people of all ages and abilities across the country to participate in fun tennis events in their community. Additionally, Rogers First Set – a program dedicated to introducing tennis to youth and families across Canada – will be staging “Try Events” in select locations throughout the month.

The initiative also seeks to make tennis more accessible to Canadians from all walks of life. By offering accessible and supervised public activities at various locations during the month of June, Tennis Canada and the PTTAs aim to reduce any barriers that prevent people from trying tennis.

ROGERS FIRst Set

In July 2023, in partnership with Rogers, Tennis Canada launched Rogers First Set – a program dedicated to introducing tennis to youth and families across Canada. Centered on a play-based approach, the initiative is structured around four pillars: Try, Learn, Play, and Compete, making tennis accessible and enjoyable for beginners.

The Try Events, foundational to the program, offer a hands-on experience for newcomers to engage with tennis. These events focus on building basic skills in a supportive atmosphere, aiming to increase participants’ confidence and enjoyment of the game. They provide a structured yet fun introduction to tennis, emphasizing connection and enjoyment on the court

This summer, over 150 Rogers First Set programs and events will take place, kicking off with a range of Try Events during Tennis Month in Canada. These events will be led by Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations and tennis clubs in all provinces.
